Back at it...

Ok, so about 4 months have passed since I started this blog so proudly and I am trying it again.  The beautiful Michigan summer is now over and we have moved into cold windy weather - BRRRRR!   I do love the fall but am not so happy about winter coming - but I am looking forward to the holidays!
I have started my Christmas shopping and am trying to get Sydney to decide what she wants for Christmas, which at 3 1/2 is quite difficult apparently.  But as I've been working on it, I've realized that she doesn't NEED anything and that I want to teach her that it's not about what you get, but what you GIVE.   That's a tough lesson to teach and learn.  Ok, moving on.
We went to Chicago this past weekend to celebrate my friend Lori's 29th birthday  - we went to Naperville and spent the night with the Dillers and then spent Friday night in the city shopping and eating and hanging out.  It was great.   I feel like we've finally settled into our life here in Michigan and have some really great, close friends.  That is a great feeling.

Starting up!

So this is my first time blogging EVER but I've decided that it is time to start keeping track of our beautiful daughter and our life here in Muskegon, Mi!
Jason, Sydney and I moved back home to Muskegon 2 years ago to be closer to family and to be able to afford for me to stay home with Sydney.   Jason travels a lot for work and it enables me to really be able to take care of her while he's gone - and living close to both sets of grandparents is pretty great too!   We see them all the time and Sydney has a close day-to-day relationship with all of them, which is incredible.   We lived in California for 14 years, which is where we got married and had Sydney, and though we really miss our friends there, we are so happy to be in Michigan!

We went to the beach at Hoffmaster State Park today with Misty, Caleb, Luke and Lilly, and my niece and nephew, Hope and Collin.  It was a beautiful sunny day and the kids had a blast boogie-boarding and "surfing" the waves and playing in the sand.  The seagulls were circling and hovering today which did NOT make me happy (I have a weird fear of birds) and one even landed on another lady's bag and tried to open a bag of chips (the audacity!!).   We did have a great time and now Syd is down for a nap.  Until next time....
